Islet manages an opportunistic, tactical strategy designed to structure and trade events, catalyst-oriented long/short situations and capital markets opportunities using equities and equity derivatives. It is focused on duration, events with defined, high ROIC characteristics and combines fundamental research with a focus on monetization. The strategy was developed and managed for 10+ years at Och-Ziff Management by Joseph Samuels, the portfolio manager.

Our investment objective is to produce positive risk-adjusted returns utilizing a shorter-duration, catalyst-oriented long/short equity strategy with high exposure to equity capital market transactions. The strategy aims to deliver returns with a low correlation to equity market beta, other known risk factors, and style premiums within defined risk parameters. This is to be achieved primarily through investments in capital markets opportunities, catalyst-oriented long/short situations, and hard events/corporate actions, utilizing equities, equity-linked securities, and related derivatives.
